THE
ROLE OF EAST SUFFOLK ASSOCIATION FOR THE BLIND COMMUNITY WORKERS
East Suffolk Association for the Blind has 5 part-time Community
Workers (CW) each covering their own area in the East of Suffolk. They
make home visits to help visually impaired people achieve the best
possible independent lifestyle. East Suffolk Association for
the
Blind aim to ensure contact is made with every visually impaired member
within two weeks of being requested to do so. Once you become
a
member of the Association which will not cost you anything, we will
support you for as long as is necessary and your case file will not be
closed. We do try to make contact with all of our members
about
once a year to see if circumstances have changed and to see if any new
help is required.
During their first visit to you, the
Community Worker will assess your circumstances and needs, and will
endeavour to put in place a plan of action with you, to help your
achieve an independent lifestyle. Areas that will be assessed
are
covered in the section entitled ‘
What
can East Suffolk Association for the Blind Do for You’
You
will be given a Help-line Card with the name and telephone number of
the Community Worker in your area which will enable you to make contact
during normal office hours Monday to Friday and they will respond to
you as soon as is practicable.
